November 23, 1932 - May 19, 2014

Arlys (Halligan) Dodd, 81, of Gilmore City passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at her home in Gilmore City. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church, Gilmore City. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Harris Funeral Home, Gilmore City and from 9-10 AM Saturday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM Friday evening at Harris Funeral Home. Arlys is survived by her husband, Denis; sons, Dave Dodd of Gilmore City and Bill (Kris) Dodd of Apple Valley, MN; grandsons, Jason (Jennie) Dodd of Livermore; Tyler Dodd of Bethlehem, PA; and Nick, Jake, and Luke Dodd of Apple Valley, MN; great grandchildren Jackson, Jasmine, and Jerzie Dodd of Livermore; brother, LeRoy (Bonnie) Halligan of Gilmore City; sisters, Sheila (Jim) LaVelle of Gilmore City and Vickie Kaufman of Manson; eleven nephews, nieces, and families; and several cousins and families. She was preceded in death by grandparents, George W. and Addie (McGhee) Topliff; parents, Victor and Annis (Topliff) Halligan; and parents-in-law, Harold and Mary (Donnelly) Dodd. Arlys J. Halligan was born November 23, 1932 in Gilmore City and lived all of her life in the Gilmore City area. She attended Lake No. 6 Country School and graduated from Gilmore City High School. Arlys was an active 4-H member followed by serving as a 4-H leader. Following graduation and prior to marriage, she was employed by Lee Brown at his tax office, Gilmore City, and then by Don Pierson at Concrete Products, Humboldt. Arlys married Denis (Dee) Dodd January 25, 1955 at St. John's Catholic Church, Gilmore City. They were blessed with their two sons, Dave and Bill. Arlys and Dee farmed and raised their sons. Later she was employed at the Gilmore City Post Office. Arlys enjoyed her rural agricultural life, and loved her family, friends and neighbors, and community. www.harrisfuneralservices.com
