Corenne A. Seward

January 14, 1919 - May 12, 2009

Corenne A. Seward, 90 formerly of Gilmore City, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Israel Hospice House in Ames. Services will be held Saturday, May 16 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City with burial to follow in Marble Valley Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 until time of service at the church on Saturday. Harris Funeral Home of Gilmore City is in charge of arrangements. Corenne Arla Seward, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Faldet) Larson was born January 14, 1919 in Canoe Ridge, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Decorah, graduating from the Decorah High School and then attended beauty school in Fort Dodge. On November 24, 1946 she was united in marriage with Lyle C. Seward. The couple lived a short while in Fort Dodge and Gilmore City before moving the a farm in Bradgate. In 1975 the couple moved to town in Gilmore City. Corenne operated beauty shops in Bradgate, Rolfe and Gilmore City. She lived in Gilmore City six years after Lyle's death in 1994, moved the Cedar Rapids in 2000 and back to Fort Dodge in 2004. Survivors include her children: Karen (Norm) Heald of Greeley Colorado, Duane Seward of Canton, Minnesota, Daniel (Kim) Seward of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Gregory Seward and special friend Judy of Ankeny, Iowa, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. While in Gilmore City Corenne was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,daughter Connie, and brothers and sisters, Idella, Pearl, Cecilia, Ella, Ernest, and Norma Jean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be sent to the Israel Family Hospice House, c/o Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation, 1111 Duff Avenue, Ames, IA 50010.
