Dorothy Stamper

Dorothy (Rasmusson) Stamper, 94, of Gilmore City entered the Kingdom Eternal November 14, 2013. Born January 26, 1919, in Blanden, Iowa, she married Richard Stamper of Gilmore City June 1, 1940. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Lockhart (Gene) of Texas, Phyllis Davis (Lloyd) and Bill Stamper (Linda) of Independence, Steve Stamper (Kathy) of Gilmore City, Mary Burkett (Bill) of Independence, and Jan Brown (Michael) of Humboldt, her 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and brother-in-law Charles Krusenstejerna. Dorothy was the choir director and pianist at the United Methodist Church for 55 years and life-long member of United Methodist Women, Past Matron of Eastern Star, member of Bona Fide Study Club and Gilmore City Senior Citizens. Dorothy was a gifted pianist and accompanied high school and junior high students for contest for many years and was an accomplished singer herself. Dorothy loved to make and share dozens of kinds of Christmas cookies and candies and her choir caroling parties were a favorite. Dorothy covered us all with love and good food and her profound faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2007, parents Elmer and Mary Rasmusson, sisters Lucille Janssen and husband Gup, Florence Walter and husband Harold, and Mary Krusenstejerna.
