Edna Marie Doty

Edna Marie Doty, 82 of West Bend passed away January 2, 2009 at the West Bend Care Center as the result of Alzheimers disease. Edna was born September 3, 1926 in Rodman, Ia to Joseph and Catherine (Bonnstetter) Faber. She attended school in Whittemore until the 8th grade and graduated from the Rodman High School. She was united in marriage with Shirley Doty January 30, 1946 and together they had four children. After many years of farming the couple moved to West Bend where they owned and operated the West Bend Motel from 1971-1990. Edna had been a resident of the West Bend Care Center since 2003. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, being compasionate, caring and considerate to all who knew her. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. She was a devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Edna will be missed by her children: Mary(Jim) Greinert of Ottumwa, IA; Patricia (Kevin) Kennefick of Wayzata, MN; Kevin (Daniela) Doty of Fort Dodge, IA; and Diane (Kevin) Montag of West Bend, IA; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren as well as several loving relatives who will miss her presence within their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Shirley. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, at STs. peter and Paul's CAtholic Church with burial to follow in the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:30-7:30 PM Monday at the church where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at the Palo Alto County Hospital.
