Edward Hanson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edward Hanson, age 81 of Algona, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Lentz Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Burial will take place on Friday at 10:30 am at the Callender Cemetery in Callender. Edward Lester Hanson, the son of Edward and Emma (Peterson) Hanson was born on June 6, 1937 in Callender, Iowa. He attended Somers Consolidated School graduating in 1955. On September 3, 1960, Ed was united in marriage to Marry Gommels in Nashua, Iowa at the Little Brown Church. Ed worked in sales management for Amoco Oil and Conagra Foods, retiring in 2002. Ed enjoyed going to and watching races, following Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and doing yardwork. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Mary of Algona; children, Allen Hanson of Mason City, Christine Hanson-Bone and her husband Vance of Rockmart, Georgia, Brian Hanson and his wife Tammy of Algona and Donya Hanson-Weig of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Jesse, Cody, Amber and David; and a brother, Warren Hanson of Sherman Oaks, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Leo, Dale, Hank, Chet and Floyd Hanson.
