Edwin "Eddie" Thilges

Edwin "Eddie" Thilges, 86 of West Bend died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Services will be held Monday,10:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, West Bend with burial to follow in the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 PM Sunday at the church where a vigil service will be held at 5:00 PM followed immediately by a rosary. Harris Funeral Home of West Bend is in charge of arrangements. Edwin C. Thilges, the son of John and Susana (Etringer) Thilges was born October 31, 1924 in Ottosen, IA, the youngest of 10 children. Eddie received his education at Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic School in West Bend. On September 10, 1946 he was united in marriage to Thelma Bormann at St. Joseph, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed in the Bode area until 1987 when they retired and moved to West Bend. Survivors inlcude Eddie's wife Thelma of 64 years, West Bend, IA, his children, Jerald and Shirley Thilges of Fort Dodge, IA, Donald and Colleen Thilges of West Bend, IA, Ruth and Dave Ludwig of Algona, IA, Judy and John Tornabane of Fort Dodge, IA, Janet and Dave Fickbohm of Whittemore, IA, Keith Thilges and fiancee Patty Waychoff of West Bend, IA and Nancy and Nick Pranger of Ankeny, IA, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, brothers in law, Alfred Bormann, Clarence Frideres and Maurice and Elaine Bormann. Eddie loved farming, fishing, playing cards and having coffee with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Carrie Thilges, brothers Felix, Clarence, Sylvester and Melvin and sisters Marina, Regina, Alice, Lucille, and Fidelis.
