Fahey A. Gress Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ottosen... Fahey A. Gress, 98 of Ottosen died Saturday May 24 at the West Bend Care Center. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 AM at the Apostolic Christian Church, West Bend with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 PM Monday at the Apostolic Fellowship Center, West Bend and from 9:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday. Harris Funeral Home of West Bend is in charge of arrangements. Fahey Ashton Gress, the son of William Jr. and Olive (Parsons) Gress was born August 5, 1909 at Hamar, North Dakota. He completed his education through the eighth grade and at the age of fourteen began working as a farm laborer. He moved to the Algona, IA area in 1929 and worked on farms of relatives and acquaintances. Fahey was united in marriage to Marie C. Gerber on December 11, 1941. In 1942 they moved to a farm by Ottosen, IA and farmed there for 32 years. Fahey and Marie retired from farming in 1974 and moved to West Bend, IA. Fahey was baptized in 1952 and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He has resided at the West Bend Care Center for the last several years and will always be remembered for his generous smiles and contentment through his many years of hearing loss and lack of mobility. Survivors inlcude his wife Marie and his five children: Ray (Sandy) of Ames, IA, Rodney (Sally) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Cloyce (Carol) of Ottosen, IA, Robert (Sue) of Emmetsburg, IA and Connie (Joe) Gerst of Amana, IA, 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. His parents, two brothers, and five sisters preceded Fahey in death.
