Frank R. Ulrich, 91 of Mallard died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Lakeside Lutheran Home, Emmetsburg. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, Mallard with burial to follow in Ellington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home in Mallard. Frank Robert Ulrich, the son of Robert and Ida (Grund) Ulrich was born June 14, 1920 in Mallard, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Kathryn McGrauth on October 28, 1940 at the Methodist parsonage in Emmetsburg. Kathryn and Frank lived and farmed their entire lives in the Mallard area. They celebrated their 70th wedding aniversay in October surrounded by family and friends. Survivors include his children: Judy (Cliff) Barber, Omaha, NE, Ruth Halder, Omaha, NE, Bob (Karen) Ulrich, Armstrong, IA, Betty(Robert) Barber, Algona, IA, Janet (Ed) Leuer, Camp Verde, AZ, Bill Ulrich, Mallard, IA, Mary (Brent) Hilton, Cylinder, IA, Nancy Busse and special friend Dick, Clinton, IA, Sandy Henderson and special friend Paul , Graettinger, IA, David Ulrich, Mallard, IA, Deb (Jeff) Falkena, Albert City, IA, Darryl (Tory) Ulrich, West Bend, IA, 28 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, sisters: Marie Bonnstetter, Emmetsburg, IA, Rosie Thomas, Panora, IA, Viola Christenson, Iona, Minnesota, and his brother Walter of Graettinger, IA. Frank enjoyed his family, loved fishing and taking his dog "Smoke" for rides. He also made many quilts for his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn in 2010, son Jim, grandson Adam, great grandson Colt and sisters Anna Dorweiler and Bertha Weber.
