Gordon Walter Struecker

August 1, 1930 - November 5, 2010

Gordon W. Struecker, 80 of West Bend died Friday evening, November 5, 2010 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, West Bend with burial to follow in the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 PM Monday at the church. Harris Funeral Home of West Bend is in charge of arrangements. Gordon Walter Struecker, the son of William and Emma (Kroeger) Struecker was born August 1, 1930 in West Bend, Iowa, and received his education in Whittemore. On May 21, 1953 he was united in marriage to Margaret Bonnstetter at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Whittemore. The couple lived and farmed in the West Bend and Whittemore area during their lives, moving to town in West Bend in 1985. Survivors inlcude his wife Margaret of West Bend, IA, children: Bob and Donna Sonksen of Curlew, IA, Clarence and Karen Siepker of Laurens, IA, Dwayne and Becky Anderson of Algona, IA, and Norman and Kathy Sorenson of Storm Lake, IA, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Elda Schlei, Retta Hanselman, Alice Wehrspann, Janice (Bill) Peterson, Howard Struecker, Norman Struecker, Willis (LaBerta)Struecker and sister in law Esther Struecker. Gordon was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Harry Anderegg American Legion Post of West Bend, and served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, calling Bingo at the nursing home, picking up and cracking walnuts and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters, Glen, Carl, Clarence, Alden and Esther Gatton.
