James L. Ford

Funeral services for James L. Ford, 67 of Mallard will be held Tuesday December 23, 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mallard with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery in Gilmore City. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in Mallard where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Dad left us Saturday December 20, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. James L. Ford, the son of Tom and Helen (Yoney) Ford was born November 4, 1941 in Michigan, ND. He was raised and educated in Gilmore City, graduating from the Gilmore City High School in 1959. In April o 1967 Jim was united in marriage with Mary Jacobson in Jackson Minnesota. Jim lived in Pocahontas until 1974 when he moved to Mallard. He operated a gas station in Mallard,and also drove truck for Hakes in Laurens and Dohrn Trucking. Survivors include his children, Jackie (Tim) Roberts of Urbandale, Tom (Jennie) Ford of Bradgate, Mike Ford of Graham, WA, Janell (Dave) Rittgers of Rolfe, and Russ (Angela) Naeve of Gilmore City, 14 grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Mary(Ralph) Himrod of Eagan, Minn, Julie Ford of Boone, Char (Gary) Beekman of Pocahontas, John (Carolyn) Ford of Humboldt, Helen (Jim) Nelson of Ankeny, Rick (Shirley) Ford of Marshalltown, Bob Ford of Gilmore City, Jean Engman of Pocahontas, Dennis(Amy) Ford of Gilmore City and brother in law Ray Elsner of Boone. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed working with Father Hart on many projects. He loved telling jokes and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barb Elsner, and brother Joe Ford.
