James Jerome Fowler

March 1, 1937 - May 18, 2008

James Jerome Fowler, 71 of Ottosen, died Sunday May 18, at his home in Ottosen. Services will be held Thursday, May 22, 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottosen with burial to follow in Union Cemetery, Ottosen. Visitation is from 5-8 Pm Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home in West Bend. James Jerome Fowler, the son fo Kermit and Lillian (Haugen) Fowler was born March 1, 1937 in Ottosen, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and later confirmed in the christian faith at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin, Illinois. He was raised and received his education in Ottosen, graduating from the Ottosen High School in 1955. Jim then worked at Foley's Flowers and Greenhouse in Humboldt until his entrance into the United States Armed Forces in 1960. He took his basic and Engineer Training at Fort Hood, Texas. He was the company clerk for the 500th Engineer Company (PM) in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was discharged in 1962. He spent time at other jobs for a short while before working at the Farmers Co-Op Elevator, Ottosen. In November of 1963 Jim was married to Betty Wilson and to this union six children were born. The marriage was later dissolved. Jim worked in Ottosen until taking a job with the Co-Op Elevator in Massena, Iowa. He then worked with Sohigro in Albert City and latler transferred to Sahigro in Rankin, Illinois. Jim then worked as a grain examiner for the State of Iowa before returning to the Farmers Co-Op Elevator in Ottosen where he worked until his retirement. On October 16, 1981 he was united in marriage with Veronica (Dornsbach) Wilbur and to this union one daughter was born. Survivors include his wife Veronica, Ottosen, IA, children: Lyndon (Mary) Fowler, Algona, IA, Jason (Paula) Fowler, Ottosen, IA, Melissa (Rich) Vaske, Bode, IA, Jon Wilbur, Cibolo, Texas, Natalie Fowler, Mankato, Minnesota, Penny (Jim) Bollinger, Fenton, IA, Jason (Michelle) Wilbur, Primghar, IA, Charles (Jennifer) Fowler, Byron, Minnesota, Jessica Fowler, Washington, IA, a sister Greta Meyer, Algona, IA, thirteen grandchildren: Stephen and Brandon Vaske, Mark and Lyndsay Fowler, Tres' and Tyler Wilbur, Samantha Wilbur, Jacob and Jenna Bollinger, Nicholas, Taylor, Brennen and Alexis Fowler. Jim was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottosen, the Ottosen Commercial Club, the Ottosen City Council and served as 'Parks and Recreation Director' for the city of Ottosen.
