James Melvin Roupe

West Bend... James Melvin Roupe (Jim) 66, of Georgetown Texas, formerly of West Bend Iowa, passed away on July 12, 2011 in Round Rock, Texas. Jim was born in Estherville, Iowa on March 1, 1945 to Lucile and Melvin Roupe. He later married Carol Kemna on September 24, 1966. Jim and Carol were happily married for 45 years. Jim owned and operated Roupe?s Furniture in West Bend, Iowa for 30 years. In addition to work Jim was a member of the National Guard Reserve for six years. Jim volunteered his time to the Northwest Telephone Board, West Bend Ford and the West Bend Chamber of Commerce. Jim loved to spend time with his family and friends at his lake house in Okoboji, Iowa. Jim also found enjoyment from landscaping, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife Carol Roupe; Son: Cory Roupe and his wife Jennifer; Daughter: Heidi Brunger; Grandchildren: Ethan Roupe, Alexandra Roupe, Austin Brunger, Abbey Brunger; Mother: Myrtle Lucile Roupe; Sister: Sherry Grund, Lisa Leber. Jim was preceded in death by his Father Melvin Roupe, his Sister Lynne Wilderman, and his grandchild Logan Brunger. Visitation will be held at Harris Funeral Home in West Bend, Iowa July 17 from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter and Pauls Catholic Church in West Bend, Iowa July 18 at 10:30 am
