April 27, 1950 - September 10, 2011

Joseph R. Bonnstetter Joseph Richard Bonnstetter, 61 of West Bend died Saturday, September 10 as the result of a car accident near Spencer, IA. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Whittemore with burial to follow in the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home in West Bend. Joe Bonnstetter, the son of Michael and Clara (Metzger) was born April 27, 1950 in West Bend, IA where he was raised and received his education, graduating from the West Bend High School in 1969. On June 9, 1972 he was united in marriage with Connie (Gilmore) who survives him along with his children; Melanie (Chad) Porter of Belmond, IA, Mark (Shawna) Bonnstetter of Humboldt, IA, Lori(Russ) Slack of Urbandale, IA, and Kevin Bonnstetter and his fiancee Steffanie Tomlinson of Knoxville, IA, along with his four grandchildren, Levi, Larsen and Salem Bonnstetter and Keaton Slack, brothers, Don(Bev)Bonnstetter of Humboldt, IA, Rolly Bonnstetter of Colorado and Mike(Karen) Bonnsteter of West Bend, IA, sisters Jeanne Berte of Livermore, IA and Joann (Elden) Landolt of Livermore, IA, Maggie Struecker of West Bend, IA, sister in law Theresa Bonnstetter of West Bend, IA,brother in law Rex Crawford, Rodman, IA and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Joe in death were his parents, brothers Paul, Cloy, Marvin, Melvin, sisters Millie Struecker and Mary Crawford, brothers in laws, Gordon Struecker, Alden Struecker and Jerry Berte. He loved gardening, fishing and sports of all kinds. He especially loved visiting with his friends daily at the Village Pharmacy in West Bend. Joe served in the national guard and was an avid sports fan, therefore the family encourages memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to establish a fund at the West Bend Mallard School.
