Larry H. Allen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Larry H. Allen,of Curlew, died January 20, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Services will be held Tuesday January 26, 1:00 PM at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel in Mallard with burial to follow in the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 PM Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in Mallard. Larry H. Allen, the son of Alva and Ida (Phillips) Allen was born December 18, 1934 in West Bend. He was raised and received his education in West Bend, graduating from the West Bend High School in 1952. On September 13, 1953 he was united in marriage with Patricia Wilderman in Fort Dodge. The couple lived for a short while in West Bend before moving to Curlew in 1959 where they lived during their married lives. Larry farmed and drove truck in the Curlew area. Survivors include his wife Patricia of Curlew, IA, his children: Robin Allen (Steve Peterson) of Ayrshire, IA, Roxane Thielen (Kim Lewis) of Evansdale, IA, Roni Rouse (Jim Rouse) of Monroe, IA, Robert Allen (Erika) of Grundy Center, IA and Rebecca Einck (Gary) of Grundy Center, IA, 14 grandchildren, sisters Sunny Hatfield of Idaho, and Oma Montag (Philip) of Minnesota, brother Steve Allen (Betty) of Oregon and brother in law Dick Wilderman (Judy) of Des Moines, IA. Larry enjoyed spending time with his children as well as motorcycling with his wife and friends, snowmobiling and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and eight brothers: Opal Yotter, Ben, Glen, Leonard, Phil, Dale, Les, Duane and Maynard. The Allen family invites all to a time sharing and fellowship at the Park View Inn and Suites, 13 4th Street SE, West Bend, IA immediately following the committal service.
