Laura Marie Hodgell

June 8, 1924 - August 11, 2010

Laura M. Hodgell, 86 of Gilmore City, died Wednesday August 11 at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City with burial to follow in Marble Valley Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 PM Friday at the Harris Funeral Home in Gilmore City. Laura Zeman, the daughter of William and Lena (Wiese) Zeman was born June 8, 1924 in rural Pocahontas county, IA, and attended school in the area. She was a homemaker and also worked as a cook in restaurants in the areas, living in Gilmore City since 1971. Survivors include her husband, James, Gilmore City, IA, children: James and Deniese Hodgell of Laurens, IA, Ellen Williams of Blue Sprngs, Missouri, Alex Hodgell of North Liberty, IA, Kathy and Jim Saathoff of Gilmore City, IA, Barbara(Brian) Eccles of Manson, IA, and Lena and Dale Eyrich of Fort Dodge, IA, 22 Grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren, siblings: Richard and Pat Zeman of Roseville, CA, Raymond Zeman of Laurens, IA, Larry and Coleen Zeman of Fort Dodge,IA, Gordon and Jo Zeman of Minneapolis, MN, Linda Nielson of Rolfe, IA, and sister in law Geraldine Zeman of West Bend, IA. Laura was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church of Gilmore City. She enjoyed embroidery, and was known for her cinnamon rolls and homemade noodles. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, son Paul, daughter Rebecca, brothers Clarence and Harold, granddaughter Leslie, and grandson James.
