Mary Larson

June 28, 1924 - September 17, 2011

Mary Louise, daughter of Vernon Michael and Emma Cordelia Maitland Gehrt, was born June 28, 1924, in West Bend, Iowa. She graduated from Bradgate Consolidated High School in 1942. Mary then attended Fort Dodge Beauty Academy in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She operated Mary's Beauty Shop in Fort Dodge for over 20 years. Mary was married to Bert Larson in 1946 and two girls were born to this union. Mary moved to Spirit Lake in 1974 where she operated Mary's Beauty Shop for approximately 15 years. She continued to live in Spirit Lake after her retirement until she entered Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa, September 7, 2011. Mary died there September 17, 2011. Survivors include Mary's daughters Elaine (Gary) McClure of Bowling Green, KY and Carol (Bill) Stalter of Urbandale, IA; grandchildren Tiffany and John Faine and Fred Reese, great grandchildren Joseph, Michael, Katie and Jessica; great great granddaughters Autumn and Jana Cordelia; sisters Doris Landmesser and Esther Jergens, both of Gilmore City, and brother Dale Gehrt of Eufalau, OK. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bea Livasy and brothers-in-law Doyle Livasy and Jeff Landmesser.
