Ruth Ann, daughter of Fred and Clara (Gappa) Domek, was born February 8, 1921 in rural Fairville, Kossuth County, Iowa. She attended country school through high school, then attained her teaching degree from Emmetsburg High School in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She taught in country school in the area for three years. Ruth was united in marriage with Robert Dickey on June 30, 1942 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed near Bradgate, Iowa their entire married lives. Ruth was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary in Gilmore City. She enjoyed attending garage sales, making flower arrangements, traveling with her lady friends for church activities and buying gifts for her grandchildren. Ruth had been a resident of long term care at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Iowa since July 14, 2005. Ruth died there September 14, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Survivors include Ruth's sons Terry (Sherri) Dickey of Pharr, TX, Ron Dickey of Gilmore City, Paul Dickey of Gilmore City, Bob (Julie) Dickey of Bradgate, IA; daughters Jane Dickey of Fort Dodge, IA, Diane Krause of Pocahontas, IA, Elaine Montag (Francis Welty) of Pocahontas and June (Al) Hawbaker of Woodward, IA; 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother James (LaVonne) Domek of Emmetsburg, IA; and sister Eileen Bruhn of Emmetsburg, IA. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 1976, stillborn daughter Joan, daughter RoJean Hovinga, brothers Leo, Raymond and Edmund Domek and sisters Alice Huskamp and Marie Mugan.
