Willis Vernon White

Vernon White, 83 of Mallard died Saturday, May 26 at his home in Mallard. Services will be held Thursday, May 31, 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church, Mallard with Rev. Evelyn Lewiston officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM Wednesday at the church. Harris Funeral Home of Mallard is in charge of arrangements. Willis Vernon White, the son of Eddie and Lucille (Swanson) White was born October 19, 1928 just west of Mallard, on the same "century farm" where he passed away. He was rasied and educated in Mallard where he graduated from the Mallard High School in 1946. He then helped his parents with their farming. On October 4, 1952 he was united in marriage with Dorla Kraft and the couple took over the grain and livestock farming operation. Vernon enjoyed visiting the Mallard Agri-Center every morning and spending time with George Zech going to tractor pulls and the Spencer fair. Survivors include his wife Dorla, Mallard, IA, son Jeff(Nan) White of Dallas, Texas and grandchildfren, Joe Cotten and his wife Tara, Walker Vernon White and Logan Nugent White. Vernon was long time member of the United Methodist Church of Mallard. His favorite past time was riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and his many trips he was able to take out west.
